Xunantunich Mayan Ruins Tour

Cross the Mopan River to the tallest temple that stands approximately 130 feet high, offering a panoramic view of the region. This site is still being excavated because it continues to yield hidden artifacts and treasures. In 2016, archaeologists discovered an ancient tomb containing the skeletal remains of what is believed to have been a Mayan leader. Our little zoo has been growing in size and population ever since it was founded in 1983 by Sharon Matola. The Belize Zoo now covers over 29 acres of tropical savanna and pristine forest. It is now the home of over 125 different species of animals all native to Belize. The zoo serves as an educational destination for both locals and our tourists who wish to learn and encounter the wildlife of Belize.
