Description

ATM Cave Exploration Adventure Tour
This cave opened its doors to the public recently, in the late ’90s. It has quickly become one of Belize’s top-shelf adventure tours.

The adventure starts with a jungle trek where you need to cross 3 rivers before getting to the campsite where you will rest and enjoy some refreshments and lunch. The entrance to the cave is hidden by the lush rainforest and you need to swim into the cave. Once inside you need to traverse a shallow underground stream before ascending to the sacrificial chamber still surrounded by jade weaponry, pottery, and other artefacts. This may have been the most important of all the caves found in this region.

The remains of skulls, human skeletons and artefacts crystalized into the ground indicates that the ancient Maya conducted elaborate ceremonies to their gods in this cave. The famous Crystal Maiden is an intact skeleton of a young female that has over the years been crystalized on the ground.

We guarantee unforgettable memories and a more in-depth understanding of the Mayan culture and rare practices.
